Pork Ribs with BBQ Sauce


What You'll Need

Serves 4 – 6


Spice Rub

½ cup brown sugar

¼ cup paprika

1 tablespoon ground black pepper

1½ tablespoons sea salt

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or ½ tsp for a mild flavor)

1 tablespoon onion powder

½ teaspoon chilli flakes

2 racks of baby back pork ribs (approximately 3 1/3 lbs)* each rack split into 4


BBQ sauce

1 cup tomato sauce/ ketchup

1 cup tinned crushed tomatoes, pureed

½ cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

½ teaspoon Tabasco sauce

1 lemon, zest and juice

¼ cup cider vinegar

1 chili pepper, seeds removed and finely chopped

¼ cup grated onion


What To Do

1. Mix all spice-rub ingredients together. Using half of the spice rub, massage into the ribs and let stand for a minimum of 10 minutes.

2. Sprinkle the rest of the spice rub over the ribs, place into the air fryer basket of the BELLA 5.3QT Touchscreen Air Fryer, set to cook for 30 minutes at 380°F

3. To prepare the BBQ sauce, place all ingredients in a saucepan, bring to the boil then lower temperature; simmer for about 10 – 15 minutes before seasoning with salt and pepper.

4. Baste the ribs with BBQ sauce after the timer has gone off, set to cook for a further 5 minutes at 340°F basting again and giving another 5 minutes at 340°F

5. Ribs are cooked when a knife can push into the meat between the bones with no resistance. Continue to cook till you reach this point.

6. Remove from air fryer basket and serve with remaining sauce.
